Safety
Intertek Moody utilises an innovative approach to improve the bottom-line performance for your organisation and, more importantly, save lives.
Behaviour-based Safety
According to the United Nations, there are over 2 million fatalities in the workplace each year. That's 5,480 fathers, mothers, sons and daughters per day that won't come home. What's more, there are 268 million lost time injuries, which can impact personnel and their family's well-being; physically, mentally, emotionally and financially for the rest of their lives.
Beyond Safety is a two-day workshop designed to reduce incident rates by helping companies look Beyond Safety in order to provide people the skills they need to create an incident-free environment. Organisations can make safety a priority, purchasing the latest equipment and implementing policies to target safety goals; but the truth is equipment and policies alone don't change behaviours.
Beyond Safety helps companies achieve their goals by focusing on changing beliefs, which create powerful changes in behaviours. Specifically, the workshop helps individuals:
- Commit to reducing 'at-risk behaviours', which lead to incidents both on and off the job
- More thoroughly identify and mitigate hazards by recognising how a person's natural risk tolerance jeopardises risk management
- Provide feedback to others when their old school/bulletproof behaviours impact safety
Beyond Safety is customisable, scalable and has measurable results. This powerful, transformational process can be utilised to improve a single location or change an entire organisation's safety culture.
Safe Driving
By its very nature, driving involves risk. This one-day workshop, Beyond Safety: Driving in the Real World, proactively addresses the root cause of vehicular incidents and the chain of at-risk behaviours leading up to the incident. Specifically, individuals will:
- Review safe driving polices and regulations
- Learn to reduce unnecessary risk and how to mitigate the rest
- Commit to reducing at-risk behaviours that lead to driving incidents both on and off the job
- Provide feedback to others when their natural risk tolerance jeopardises safe driving
Beyond Safety: Driving in the Real World includes a combination of activities and discussions aimed at reminding individuals of "safe driving rules of the road", as well as examining their personal approach to driving safely. The message is clearreducing vehicle incidents requires people consciously choose to do the right thing.
Dropped Objects Prevention
Dropped objects are the cause of a significant number of incidents. Reducing the exposure enables organisations to create a safer environment and improve their safety record.
This highly interactive course is intended for all personnel. Participants learn to identify the potential risk of dropped objects and how to inspect the five key areas subject to the greatest exposure of dropped objects. Participants engage in experiential activities, including an abbreviated worksite inspection, and observe controlled demonstrations illustrating the consequences of dropped objects. Specifically, individuals will:
- Identify key areas for dropped objects
- Identify types of dropped objects
- Take part in dropped objects eradication and prevention
- Assess risk
- Communicate and practice conversation skills for addressing safety concerns
First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
This course is designed to provide participants with the essential knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate emergency care until professional medical care is given. Upon mastery of practical tests, participants receive US Coast Guard and internationally recognised Medic First Aid certification.
Onsite Coaching
Regardless of the length of the project, Intertek Moody coaches can work with crews at the jobsite to help create the culture necessary to reduce at-risk behaviours in order to eliminate incidents.
