PEMEX – CREATING A CULTURE OF SAFETY
Villahermosa, MEXICO – Mexico’s state owned oil company giant, PEMEX, recently demonstrated its continued commitment to safety by inviting Greg Anderson, President of Moody’s recently acquired company Randy Smith Training Solutions (RSTS), to conduct a presentation on how to create a culture of safety within Mexico’s National Oil Company. Anderson, who is also author of the book Safety 24/7, was assisted by Wade Bibbee, RSTS Manager of Facilitation, and Jaime Acero, RSTS Regional Manager Latin America.
More than 250 people from PEMEX attended the four-hour session in Villahermosa, which was opened by the Director of PEMEX Exploration & Production, Mr. Carlos Morales Gil who flew in for the event.
The highly interactive session addressed a number of key topics, some of which included:
• A leader’s role in creating a strong safety culture;
• Encouraging feedback throughout the organization; and,
• Communicating personal commitment to safety.
Mr. Ricardo Palomo Martinez, PEMEX Sub-Director Drilling, provided the closing address, emphasizing the safety of personnel cannot be sacrificed in the pursuit of production, reinforcing senior management’s commitment to creating a culture of safety within PEMEX.
