MI Pakistan Celebrates 10th Anniversary
The growing economy of Pakistan during the latter half of the 1990’s encouraged Moody International to explore this expanding market. In March of 1997, Mr. Rashid Mehr was brought on as Country Manager, and given the responsibility to develop the business and manage operations in Pakistan, with the initial focus based on management system certification. The first Moody office in Pakistan was established in Lahore, a strategic location with a competitive advantage given the nearby industrial centers.
During this time, the certification market was a relatively new concept and companies in Pakistan were rather unaware of the process. Moody Pakistan held information seminars, encouraged people to become quality consultants, and released regular press briefings related to various certification practices. Through challenging beginnings, Moody Pakistan expanded to include operational offices in Karachi and sales offices in both Faislabad and Sialkot. The initial client database of two certification clients increased to well over one thousand clients.
Five years after the inception of the Moody Pakistan office and their foray into certification services, the office began providing vendor inspection services. Today, major clients include British Petroleum Pakistan, OMV, Petronas, ENI, and Shell Pakistan.
The past ten years have seen significant advancements in trade and commerce in Pakistan, specifically in the apparel production and agriculture markets. As well, Pakistan is now operating in many other industries including pharmaceuticals, steel manufacturing, mining, construction, oil & gas, and information technology. As Moody Pakistan has grown with these markets, it continues to deliver appealing, consistent and high quality performance to its clients.
