TOKYO, Japan - The Yomiuri Shimbun has recently been ISO 14001 certified by Moody International Certification Japan.
Yomiuri, established in 1874 during the early stages of the Meiji Era, is the largest newspaper in the world with daily circulation of over 10 million and annual sales of USD 4 billion. In the literature world, the Yomiuri Literature Prize is considered one of the most prestigious and authoritative.
As well as being involved in literature and publishing, Yomiuri fosters other dynamic interests including sports and television. Yomiuri owns a professional baseball team, The Yomiuri Giants, the most popular baseball team in Japan. The company also supports various amateur sporting activities including 83 years of sponsorship for an annual 200 km university student relay run. As a complementary media interest, Yomiuri owns the Nippon Television Network Corporation, one of the largest television networks in Japan.
