EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada – Moody International Ltd. (Canada) has been an integral part of Canada’s oil and gas community for almost fifty years now.  Established in 1960 as Tottrup & Associates, later forming a partnership with the Moody International Group in 1979, becoming known as Moody-Tottrup International (MTI), and then in 2000 when the Moody Group acquired 100% controlling interest and the “Tottrup” name was dropped.

During the past almost half-century, Moody Canada has grown from primarily supplying line pipe inspection services to become a full-scope third party inspection agency through the years adding mechanical, electrical, and civil inspection, expediting, ISO 9000 certification, and personnel secondment services.  In the 1970’s and 1980’s, the Canadian operations set up operations in Japan and conducted direct inspection activities in many European, Far-East, and American facilities.

Moody has been involved with the inspection services for a good majority of Canada’s pipeline projects over the past 50 years, and continues to be involved with new projects – specifically for the pipeline and oilsands industries.  Expansions throughout the years have made way for direct representation in all of Canada’s major manufacturing points including Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Regina, Toronto, and Montreal areas.

Edmonton, Alberta (population 1,000,000 plus), located in the heart of oil and gas country in the resource-rich province of Alberta, has continued to be home to the Moody Canada head office ever since the inception of the company in 1960 – in fact, their current office building has been home for them for over twenty years now.  Edmonton remains as one of the North America’s largest manufacturing centers for equipment destined for oil and gas projects.  Alberta’s historic “Leduc #1” oil discovery was made in the Edmonton area in 1947 and helped place Canada on the world map for energy resources.

Moody Canada employees are a long-serving group with many having at least 10 years of loyal service and some boasting well over 20 (a few with 30 plus) years of service with Moody International.  Moody Canada continues to struggle with the same resource issues plaguing many employers these days, but are thankful for a loyal group of more than fifty employees who represent them well.

Moody Canada continues to earn a very well respected place with many Canadian and international clients and is considered as the premier full-scope international inspection agency in Canada.  So far, 2007 has been a banner year for the Canadian operations of Moody International, and all signs point to this positive trend continuing for the immediate future!
