Moody International Celebrates 10 Years in Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan - Moody International in Azerbaijan commenced operations in 1996 with the award of a contract to provide specialist personnel.  This first project in Azerbaijan was for the upgrade of an existing offshore oilfield, the Chirag platform, and processing facilities relating to the construction of an onshore terminal for storage and shipping. This was termed the “Contract of the Century” by the Azerbaijan Government and was the beginning of an aggressive investment program by many of the major oil companies who quickly formed PSA’s (Production Sharing Agreements).

Moody’s office was officially opened in March of 1997 by John Norton who has been a resident in Baku ever since. From humble beginnings, the Moody Azerbaijan operation has grown from a 2 person staff to 30 fulltime staff employees.  Not only has the number of employees grown, but more importantly the diversity of services offered has expanded from personnel placement, to various other technical services (inspection, expediting, auditing, site construction management, etc), certification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, AS 9100, ISO/TS 16949, etc) and training (IRCA/ANAB Registered Auditor / Lead Auditor / Internal Auditor / Conversion Courses). 

Today Moody Azerbaijan is a mainstay in third party services and has achieved significant accomplishments for which the Moody Group is very proud.
